What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a chemical solution that removes the outer, damaged layers of the skin. The result is smooth, beautiful, healthy skin. Chemical peels are usually used on the face, but they can also be used on your neck and hands. This procedure is a minimally invasive way to improve the health and appearance of your skin. A chemical peel can improve:

– Acne and acne scars
– Freckles
– Liver and age spots
– Rough skin and scaly patches
– Scars
– Skin pigmentation irregularity
– Sun-damaged skin
– Wrinkles and fine lines

What to expect
Before your chemical peel, our estheticians will clean your face and they may cover your eyes with ointment, gauze, goggles, or tape. They may also protect your hair. If you are having a light chemical peel, pain relief likely will not be needed. With a medium chemical peel, you may have the option of taking a painkiller or sedative. If you choose a deep chemical peel, our estheticians can numb your skin with a local anesthetic.

After a chemical peel
Be sure to follow our instructions for cleaning, moisturizing, and applying ointments to your skin. Immediately after a chemical peel, your skin may be red, dry, or mildly irritated. Use the breeze from a fan or ice packs to relieve the area. You can also use over-the-counter pain medication to reduce discomfort.
